The 8th IFBT World Championships of beach tennis.
2008 saw the most International teams competing at this event in the history of the game. And what an awesome event it was with lots of great matches to watch and play and lots of new friendships to be formed and old ones to treasure. Big congratulations to the Italians for winning the nations events and mens and women's open events. Also, well done to the men's french team Yankel and Hocdoerfer who finished on the podium after many 3 set matches to get there. It was an awesome experience to watch your fighting spirit.

This year also saw the U.S.A. demonstrate the tennis racquet version they play in the states with Women's champions Maloney sisters competing and Team Rhino' Men's team. Which was fantastic to see the best playing against each other in their own version of beach tennis. That what makes beach tennis so special eveyone coming together to learn and teach other new tricks. Well done BT U.S.A. team for taking on the challenge and making their way to the Mecca of Ravenna!

Once again the "Mighty Sandflies" added some bite to the sands of Marina di Ravenna with finishing with a World Ranking of 4th out of 12 teams in the nation events. It was truly an amazing effort!! Well Done! Mel Butler, Belinda O'Connor, Kellie de Burgh, James Knaggs, Paul Mapley and Con Christopoulous.

There were great matches to be seen everywhere with the Italians winning the Men's Open Doubles and Singles and the Women's Open Doubles and Singles.
